Mahasiswa IAIN Langsa Gelar Demo Tuding Rektor Banyak Jalan-jalan

Dekan FUAD Diduga Intimidasi Mahasiswa

KabarJino | Langsa – IAIN Langsa student demonstration which took place today, Friday, October 11, 2024, in front of the IAIN Langsa campus. The protesters urged the Indonesian Ministry of Religion to remove the Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ismail Fahmi Arrauf Nasution, MA and the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin Adab and Da’wah (FUAD) Dean, Dr. Mawardi Siregar, MA,

According to the demonstrators who shouted to remove the Chancellor and Dean, they were considered arrogant and unprofessional in managing the faculty.

One of the main issues highlighted was the arrogance of the Dean in the process of revising the Student Organization (ORMAWA) budget and the threat to student grades.

The Chancellor who has rarely been on campus has many outside duties so that the campus is not well managed, also the Chancellor who has been traveling a lot, aka often out of town.

The Chairperson of the Student Senate (SEMA) of the Institute, Safrizal, as the chairman of the oration said that the dispute must be subject to strict action by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion.

Not only the Rector who must be removed by the protesters. Urging the dean must also be removed immediately, the ORMAWA budget revision activities are often carried out unilaterally by the Dean of FUAD, without involving students or providing a clear explanation.

Syahrizal also shouted in front of the protesters, saying that the Dean of FUAD often uses threats against students’ academic grades as a tool to quell criticism, he said.

The Chancellor should also be on campus more, not walking around doing his job.

“The Dean of FUAD is not only unprofessional, but also arrogant in the revision of the ORMAWA budget. The budget was cut unilaterally, and students were forced to accept the decision. Worse still, there is a threat to the grades of students who dare to speak critically. We cannot allow this! We urge the Chancellor to immediately remove the Dean of FUAD,” Safrizal said in front of the gathered demonstrators.

Students also criticized the Rector of IAIN Langsa who was considered to be too often on official business, so that many campus problems, including transparency and budget management issues, were not handled properly. Until now, the demands of students in previous actions have not received an adequate response.

“The Chancellor should focus on internal campus issues, not just external services. The condition of the campus is getting worse, starting from facilities, budgets, to unclear scholarships. If the Chancellor is unable to manage the campus well, we demand the Chancellor to resign,” continued Syahrizal.

This action confirms that IAIN Langsa students will not stop fighting until their demands are met. They are asking for fundamental changes related to transparency, professionalism, and better management on campus.

If we ignore this demonstration, we will carry out another large-scale demonstration this week.

Not only will we demonstrate here, we will also demonstrate at the Indonesian Ministry of Religion in Jakarta, concluded Syahrizal.
